Detached Sonoran ADU – SILVA + HAVENS

This is the first Detached Sonoran ADU to be constructed in the City of Tucson. Designed with both the self-builder and professional contractor in mind, this project is intended to be accessible and adaptable for either approach. This Barrio ADU is being self-built by Silva+Havens.

Project Description
The Detached Sonoran ADU translates the vernacular logic of historic Sonoran adobe architecture into a modern, energy-efficient building system designed for the desert southwest. Developed initially for the City of Tucson’s ADU Model Plan Library, the project reimagines how modest infill housing can enhance existing urban lots while honoring local vernacular traditions.
